The story begins in 1955, when Russ Davis started the company with a single truck, delivering produce throughout northern Minnesota. Through hard work, strong relationships, and an unwavering commitment to quality, the business steadily grew over the next three decades into a trusted supplier of fresh produce.
As the company expanded, Russ Davis Wholesale evolved into a leading, vertically integrated produce organization in the Midwest. Today, it includes a family of brands—such as Davis Fresh, Crazy Fresh, and other specialized divisions—each designed to serve different parts of the produce supply chain, from sourcing and distribution to fresh-cut processing and logistics.
In 1991, the Davis family made a defining decision to transition the company to employee ownership, preserving its legacy while empowering its people. Today, Davis Fresh is proudly part of that employee-owned organization, where every team member carries forward the same hardworking, high-integrity approach that has defined the company for generations.
